The overall goal of the organization is to extensively promote sustainable use of natural resources in agriculture through participatory research and development in organic agriculture. The alternative renewable resources will be utilized with proper care and technique for the long term effect.
SADP-Nepal has carefully designed the goals for the different time frames. Considering the factors like immediate priorities of the farmers, required fundings, time required to achieve the goal and long term impact on the community and the environment.
Short term Goals- Short Term Goal shall be achieved between 6 months to 2 years. The goal is to create the consumer forum and farmers forum and link them so that organic food products produced by the farmers gets easy access to the consumers in farmer friendly price. Before connecting these two sides SADP-Nepal will train and work with the farmers to encourage them to do the organic farming. Short term goal also includes training the farmers to cultivate soil friendly crop/plant and to value add to these harvest with the simple yet effective and research backed ways to prolong the shelf life of their yields.
Mid Term Goals- Mid Term goals are in parts the elaboration of short term goals. Mid Term goals shall be achieved between 2 and 5 years. Additionally, in the mid term goals SADP-Nepal includes the idea of creating dozens of Agro Tourism Destinations where the Nepalese and foreign travelers both can visit the place, volunteer in different works, experience the cultural exchanges and enjoy the unique peaceful escapade. This naturally increases the livelihood of the host villages. In the mid term we aim to dig deeper into the technical aspect so that we can help farmers produce relatively more technology involved higher value household products. Mid term goal also includes extensively training the people of our work areas regarding the importance of environment and urgency to act to conserve it for the future generations.
Long Term Goals- The assimilation of short term and the mid term goals to provide sustainability to the soil health, environment and the livelihood of as many farmers as possible throughout Nepal is the long term goal of SADP-Nepal. The long term goal of the SADP Nepal is to create the clusters of societies across Nepal which does organic farming, offer the part of the products right away to consumers, adds value to the portion of the products by infusing cost friendly technologies to increase the shelf life of the outputs for distribution within and beyond Nepal, to create myriads of travel destinations based on organic farming and to conserve the land mass and water bodies of the every region we work in by implementing sustainable methods of conservation. Agro (Eco) Tourism
Nepal’s combination of stunning natural environment and strong cultural heritage, make it a truly remarkable country for the development of tourism. Our concern is to link between tourism and the organic agriculture system through which the message gets widespread to popularize organic agriculture. When a group of tourist visits the place, we need to manage logistics like food, accommodation and recreation. Organic food produced in the farm itself, cozy accommodation facilities within the farm and recreational activities with pure farming activities and nature is what our farmlands shall provide at minimum. It is a win win scenario for both; the guests and the host. The local organic food and other handicrafts prepared by the local people will get value which of course will be an income generating source. It has primarily positive impact to the local people while disseminating the true message with increasing the value of organic products in the greater phenomena. Keeping these realities in mind SADP-Nepal has set up the pre-requisites of agro (Eco) tourism, as it is also a part of our entire program.
Beside this the organization is also committed to preserve and protect the culture of different ethnic group in its project area which is almost on its last legs. It will also help to transmit the cultural values and customs of different ethnic groups that will promote the tourism.
